That's right, Folks! This is the year I lose my RT Virginity and holy-schniekies, am I nervous! I'm going to take off my socially awkward training wheels and venture forward into this mysterious land of awesome readers, and unbelievable authors...and pray I don't do something to embarrass the family name.
Mr. Tapper is already taking bets with his buddies on how long it will be before he gets the first call from the hotel management to kindly assist them with peeling his salivating wife off of some poor defenseless author. Bless his heart. He knows me too well. And frankly, he might need his winnings to recoup our bank account when he has to bail me out of jail - so I can't even pretend to be offended that he's making a play to profit from his spouse's anticipated reaction to coming *this* close to so many of her favorite authors.
And it isn't JUST the authors that may need to call for reinforcements. Nooooo. Because (and this might be even more awesome) I am finally getting to meet a bu...
Back in May, between the cute kitten videos, endless memes, and ‘Who/What Kind of ____ Are You?’ quizzes, I see an announcement on FaceBook that changed my life. There, pretty-in-pink logo attached, is an Avon Books (aka the Romance world’s Mount Olympus) post about the Avon FanLit 2015 Contest.
Oh. . .and lookee there! They are having an #AskAvonBks chat on Twitter to get more information directly from the Avon Editors - the folks that would be running the show, and providing feedback during the contest that would eventually result in a novella titled A DUKE TO REMEMBER.
Having, just a few months back, taken my first *real* steps to test my writing chops with NaNoWriMo, I wasn’t sure if I was ready for my newbie efforts to ‘go live’. After staring at the post long enough for my husband to ask me how long my face was going stay scrunched that way (yes, he’s still breathing), I decided that I needed to tune in to the Twitter...
I’m soooo excited to let you know I’ve been invited by four of my luffly friends from the Old School Romance Book Club (“OSRBC”) to co-host a new blog devoted entirely to all things we LUFF about Historical Romance – not just Old School – EVERYTHING! Yeah...*everything* is a lot of stuff!
I have a feeling these ladies have got it covered.
After gabbing about the concept, because that’s just who we all are, we really wanted present our contributions to the HR discussion with a unique spin…ya know, add that little bit of something different to conversation than the usual book reviews, and commentary. That discussion led to several more where we joked about how fun it would be to post our commentary not as a reader, but as a participant in the stories we read.
Next thing we knew, Lady MacCallan’s Diary was born! Granted, we’ve just started this experiment and we’re still working out some kinks, but if you’re interested, feel free to click that lil ol’ link below!
Oh my Lufflies! I’m so excited to tell you about this exciting venture getting underway by one of my AvonFanlit comrades, Bea Koch, and her sister Leah. The first boutique book store dedicated ENTIRELY to ROMANCE!
Can you stand it? I’m all beside myself picturing a leisurely stroll through this dream-come-true establishment (I’d be so obliged if you’ll ignore the drooling as I do so – we’re friends right?) and touching all those gorgeous covers! I was especially thrilled to become a backer of this incredible, and too long a fantasy, concept by donating to their Kickstarter campaign.
Please see the link below to learn more and perhaps become a backer yourself – I’ll spare you some strolling room…of course the whole drooling thing is optional.
I'm so excited to FINALLY be able to show you the cover for the Avon FanLit Novella A DUKE TO REMEMBER, which includes my WINNING CHAPTER FIVE!
